From Exporter to E-Commerce Pioneer
Founded in Japan, MITSUYA CO., LTD. began as a company exporting Japanese automobiles, auto parts, and motorcycles globally. As a Korean himself, JunWoo Ryu saw the potential in Korea’s adventurous and trend-sensitive consumers. Encouraged by friends, family, and employees, he joined Coupang, and it quickly became the company’s largest sales channel in Korea, accounting for over 60–70% of their Korean revenue.
“Initially, we hoped Coupang would contribute a portion of our sales. But within a few years, it far exceeded our expectations. Looking back, I believe it was one of the best decisions we ever made,” says JunWoo Ryu.
Record-Breaking Growth in 2024
In 2024, MITSUYA achieved remarkable growth on Coupang. Sales exceeded 1.8 billion KRW, marking a 112% year-over-year increase; over 45,000 units sold, a 174% increase compared to the previous year. This performance highlights the brand’s impressive sales growth and the effectiveness of its tailored strategies for Korean consumers.

MITSUYA stays agile by quickly sourcing products trending on Korean social media and YouTube. Their proactive approach, combined with Coupang’s free exposure promotion system and participation in the various marketing programs, has led to significant sales growth.

A Story That Stays with Us
One of the most touching moments came from an elderly customer, over 80 years old, who wanted to buy a keyboard for his grandson. Nervous about placing his first overseas order, he called MITSUYA for help. The team guided him through the process, and the heartfelt thank-you message from his grandson remains a cherished memory.
